House Rules’ Rat Pack Kitchen

Sunday night’s full house reveal on Channel 7’s House Rules boasted the show’s most high-tech kitchen yet. With dark matt frontals, metallic handles, disappearing cabinetry, a pop-up rangehood and a hideaway bar, the team created a true entertainer’s kitchen that nailed the ‘bold, opulent’ brief. The martini bar hidden behind an integrated roller door had judge Jamie Durie declaring the space ‘very rat pack’, while Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen found it to be ‘like a Bond villain’s lair’.

Homeowner’s Pete and Courtney were thrilled with their ‘stunning’ tricked-out kitchen. Pete hyped the pop-up rangehood as something he thought only a ‘myth for rich people’, loving that the island cooktop would ensure they could still be part of the party, even while cooking.

The ‘glamorous’ laundry was another success. Carrying through the same bold colour pallet, the laundry matched the copper handles with a glitzy hexagonal tile. A matt black sink and tap completed the look and built-in soft-close laundry baskets offered further functionality.
